Research

The members in our group hold a wide variety of research interests from embedded systems to graphics design. We encourage ideas from different disciplines to diverge our research domain, but our group's core research focuses on the following areas.

Core Research Topics

Smart mobile and pervasive computing systems

    • Smart mobile/ubiquitous computing systems today typically exploit novel computing platforms such as smartphones, watches or glasses. On one perspective, we are looking into how we can improve the sensing capabilities of these smart devices by developing algorithms to calibrate the low-quality sensing data that these platforms currently provide. On another perspective, our group is performing research on designing new smart device platforms and applications that can assist a larger population, especially for the socially weak.

Intelligent clinical/healthcare systems

    • The goal of our intelligent clinical/healthcare systems research is in assisting clinicians and medical staff in the patient monitoring process and clinical diagnosis. Our work in this domain focuses on collecting and analyzing medical data from hospitals and from wearable healthcare platforms to gain a comprehensive view of patients and their symptoms.

Low-power embedded systems and embedded/mobile AI

    • Miniaturized sensors collected to low-power embedded platforms will play a critical role in collecting data from the real-world in a scale that was previously impossible. Our research focuses on maximizing the capabilities of low-power, resource-limited computing platforms so that they can independently play a critical role in not only capturing the environmental characteristics, but also in autonomously analyzing and adjusting the physical world.
